Printable Christmas Escape Room: The Locked Workshop

It is Christmas Eve, and the door to the workshop is locked with a four-number code. Four puzzles on one sheet give the code, and the password at the end tells kids whether they got it right. About twenty quiet minutes, which in December is worth a great deal.

How it plays

1. A snowy maze, picture math with stars, bells and stockings, a secret message and a riddle each give one number.
2. The four numbers are the code. Each one picks a letter from a strip at the bottom of the sheet.
3. The right code spells a real word: the password.
4. They say the password to you, and the workshop is open.

Setting it up

1. Print page 1 on a color printer, or page 2 on any printer. One per child, or one per pair.
2. Hand over a pencil.
3. Keep page 3: the answers, the solved maze and the code are on it.
4. Optional: put a small gift in a box with a four-number padlock set to the code, and the workshop really does open.

In the classroom

A good last-day-before-winter-break sheet. Print one per pair and ask for the password, not the code: anybody who can say it has solved every puzzle, because one wrong number turns it into nonsense.
